Guidelines

Attendance, Leave & School Discipline Policy

Parents and pupils are expected to strictly follow the rules and regulations of Dronacharya Public School. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for a child’s academic progress, discipline, and overall development.

Regular attendance of students is compulsory. Parents are requested to schedule medical appointments on weekly holidays as far as possible. In unavoidable situations where an appointment must be fixed on a working school day, prior permission from the Principal is mandatory.

No leave of absence will be granted without a written application from the parents submitted in advance. In case a student is absent due to unforeseen reasons or arrives late, the reason must be clearly mentioned in the Regularity Record. If the reason is of a personal nature, parents may submit it through a separate written note.

All students must reach the school before the first bell at 9:20 A.M. Late coming disrupts learning and discipline; therefore, repeated late arrivals will invite disciplinary action.

On certain working days that fall between public holidays, attendance is compulsory. Absence on such days will be viewed seriously. Parents must personally meet the Principal with a written explanation for the absence to be considered for condonation.

In cases of long-term illness, parents must personally inform the Principal about the nature of the illness and the expected duration of absence, so appropriate academic support can be planned.

The list of holidays for the academic year is provided in the school diary. Students are expected to be present on the reopening day after every vacation. Parents are requested not to send students on vacation before the declared holidays or extend vacations beyond the permitted dates.

Students who do not report to school on time after vacations may have their names struck off the school rolls. In such cases, re-admission, if permitted, will require payment of the admission fee again.

Attendance is compulsory on specific days during the academic year, including:

  • Non-teaching and activity days such as Republic Day, Teachers’ Day, Children’s Day, and other school events

  • A fortnight before major examinations, before the end of a term, and at the beginning of a new academic term

Regular attendance builds discipline, responsibility, and consistency—qualities essential for lifelong success. Parents’ cooperation in following these guidelines will help ensure a smooth and effective learning environment for all students.
